Her involvement in CREW Seattle and Sound, as well as the Board, has spanned over six years. According to Michele, CREW has provided opportunities for growth as a leader, and her participation in the fantastic CREW Leadership Series was a catalyst for connecting with other women professionally. CREW has provided her opportunities to pitch her services on potential real estate deals, and most importantly she has made lasting friends with some awesome women!

Michele has a degree in Music and performed with Seattle Opera and at Aspen Music Festival as a professional singer in her 20’s and 30’s. She accepted a job as an administrative assistant with a small local general contractor decades ago, but raised her hand to do more. She even wrote her own job description! Her boss at the time, Bill Lewis, a graduate of Princeton and Stanford, gave her the opportunity to become an Estimator when the Company merged with Lease Lewis. Six years later she was promoted to Senior Estimator. Eventually, she became the Chief Estimator in their Special Projects Division and was active in Business Development.

In 2014, Michele read the book “Lean In” by Sheryl Sandberg and accepted an offer for the Chief Estimator position at PCL, where she managed and lead a team of 10 estimators with a very diverse market niche, and projects ranging up to $400m. Michele was the first woman ever to be the recipient of the Ross Grieve Leadership Award out of 4,500 employees at PCL. This award was named after the former PCL President and Chairman of the Board. In 2016, a couple of colleagues joined Compass General Construction and asked her to follow them there as Chief Estimator. She was impressed with the opportunity, as Compass is a very successful mixed-use residential contractor, and the company culture was a fit.
